Beautiful Full-Length Trailer for David Fincher’s The Social Network

By

A few weeks ago we posted the so-so teaser trailer for David Fincher’s The Social Network. As that film is set to be released in October, I reasoned then that we would get a full-length theatrical trailer soon, and now we have it via Yahoo! I was already really looking forward to The Social Network, but this trailer caught me completely off guard, by making this film look incredbily captivating, beautiful, dramatic and moving.

One thing I picked up on after watching the trailer, that I didn’t know before, was that newly-appointed heir to the Spider-Man suit, Andrew Garfield, has a major role in this film playing Eduardo Saverin, the right-hand-man to Mark Zuckerberg (creator of Facebook, played by Jesse Eisenberg). The trailer also features the beautifully placed song “Creep” by Radiohead, highlighting the contrasting elements of the unprecedented circumstance of this story; that being a seemingly normal college freshman having to battle corporations and friend backstabbing with billions of dollars at stake because he created a website. You can also really pick up on David Fincher’s signature greyish color tones splattered over every scene, in a good way. It’s very pleasing to look at.

I also think, with the right performance from Eisenberg and script by Aaron Sorkin, this movie could be up for some serious awards consideration come fall/winter, looking at the current barren field of contenders. Minus Inception, of course.

The Social Network opens October 1st. Check out the trailer below.

I laughed at the idea of this at first, but after watching the trailer, I think it has some serious potential!
