Badass Trailer for HBO’s Upcoming Prohibition Crime-Drama, Boardwalk Empire

By

With Showtime rapidly nipping at the heels of HBO in terms of gripping television dramas, the Home Box-Office Network has been trying desperately to find a show to fill the massive shoes that The Sopranos left behind. I think they’ve found just the show. HBO has recently released (via Slashfilm) a promo trailer for their new crime-drama set to debut this fall, Boardwalk Empire. The show comes to us from none other than Sopranos creator Terrance Winter and executive producer Martin Scorsese. And after seeing the trailer, I truly think this show is going to be the next great American television drama.

The story centers around Atlantic City underground kingpin and city Treasurer Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, played by the great Steve Buscemi, set at the beginning of the prohibition era in 1920, and deals with all the crime, murder, prostitution and under-the-table political deals that come with it. This is somewhat of a comeback statement for Buscemi, as he’s been lacking some meaty dramatic roles over the past few years that showcase his true acting talent.

The show appears to feature the signature brutal gangster mantra that made Winter and Scorsese the entertainment artist that they are today. I seriously cannot wait for this show to come out. As stated previously, Boardwalk Empire is set to debut this fall on HBO. Check out the trailer below.
