Epic, Gorgeous, Stunning Full-Length Trailer for Inception Makes its Way Online
ByWhy have I been so obsessed with Inception? Why have I continually brought you the smallest of updates about the film over the past year, while simultaneously declaring it THE movie of the year? This is why. This is why I am so incredibly excited for this movie, and it comes in the form of the unbelievable, mind-blowing new trailer. So far, there have been two short, enigmatic teaser trailers that have left us pretty confused and in the dark to what the film is about. The first teaser only showed the tagline “Your Mind Is The Scene Of The Crime” and a brief, gravity-defying fight scene. The second had a few snippets of dialogue and a slew of other awesome imagery, but, again, left us completely clueless about the plot. Now, the third, full-length trailer is showing in theaters on most of the prints for Iron Man 2, but it has also found its way online; and we now know (kind of) what Inception will be about. This is the power of movies my friends, in all its form and glory.
UPDATE: Official HD version of the trailer has been released and is available to see here, after the break.
So this trailer has not been officially released by Warner Bros. to be distributed on the internet yet. But they did make it available to watch in the Inception online viral game Mind-Crime (via NolanFans). Then, various folks around the internet found a way to put it online in embeddable fashion for our viewing pleasure. I was going to wait until Monday to post this, when the trailer is officially released in HD, but I couldn’t wait any longer. When the HD version does come on Monday, I’ll replace this trailer with it, so stay tuned for that. So without further ado, check out the absolutely amazing full-length trailer for Inception, with more to come after.
Excuse me for a second, I have to pick up the pieces of my brain off the floor from having my mind officially BLOWN. I mean, how epic is that? THIS is the power of movies ladies and gentlemen. I’ve watched this trailer countless times and I get chills during each viewing. The imagery, the action, the music, MY GOD, the music! I’m not sure if that’s going to be the score by Hans Zimmer that will end up being in the film, but it’s amazing nonetheless. In the trailer, we also get our first official look at Marion Cotilliard’s character. She plays Leondao DiCaprio’s wife, a character that Nolan claimed to be “very twisted,” so it will be interesting to see how she plays out in the complex plot.
Those of you looking for a specific breakdown of the plot, WB released the official plot synopsis for Inception earlier this week. It goes like this, (via CinemaBlend):
Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible—inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime.
While that obviously doesn’t clear up a lot of things, it does give us enough of a concrete plot breakdown to provide people with a good idea of what the movie is about. Also, earlier this week, WB released a trippy new IMAX poster for Inception on Yahoo!, featuring the cast positioned in all sorts of crazy directions. It’s pretty damn awesome. Check it out.
