Video: DiCaprio Says Inception Literally Has “Multiple Narratives Simultaneously”

By

Leonardo DiCaprio Inception

We haven’t had any legit Inception news in awhile, as Warner Bros, Nolan & Co. have been guarding its secrets impressively. The annual ShoWest cinema exhibition is currently underway in Las Vegas, and Thursday is Warner Bros.’ “Big Picture 2010″ presentation. So you can almost be certain that they will reveal new footage of Inception to “wow” theater exhibitors for the summer blockbuster season, so stay tuned for that. But I’m not that patient. In a video interview with Empire, while promoting Shutter Island in England, Leo discussed the complexity of Inception and its narrative structure.

DiCaprio ambiguously explains:

It is complicated. It’s a complicated story-structure, but it’s sprung from the great filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s mind, and he’s been able to take highly complex jigsaw puzzles in a narrative and put them together like we’ve never seen.

This is a plot-structure that’s working on multiple layers simultaneously – and quite literally when I say simultaneously, I do mean multiple narratives simultaneously. So everyone’s going to be in for a treat when they see it, including me.

You heard him right. “Literally multiple narratives simultaneously.” I don’t even know where to begin on how that will translate to the big screen. Does that mean that there will be a split-screen displaying what is happening in Leo’s mind and how that is affecting his actions or behavior in the real world? I have NO idea. But I do know, as I’ve said countless times, Inception will be a mind-bending blockbuster unlike anything we’ve ever seen. See the video of what DiCaprio had to say below.
