Awesome First Teaser Trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Universal has just released the first teaser trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and…it’s pretty friggin sweet. The film is directed by the fantastic British filmmaker Edgar Wright, of cult classics Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz previously. The screenplay was written by Edgar Wright and actor Michael Bacall and is based on the comic book series of the same name, created by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

The story follows a Canadian boy named Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera, playing his classic “nerdy teenager with anxiety” role) who must defeat his new girlfriend’s (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) “seven evil ex-boyfriends” in order to win her heart. It totally gives me the same vibe I got after I saw the first Kick-Ass teaser trailer. It just looks like a fun, totally unique comic-book movie that should prove to be thoroughly entertaining in the theater this summer.

The trailer literally feels like you’re inside a comic-book, with the classic Kapow! Zap! fight scene exclamations featured inside the film. Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, Push) makes a pretty funny cameo as one of the seven evil ex-boyfriends; “Hey, what’s up…He seems nice.” Lol! You’ll see. Plus the gorgeous and talented Anna Kendrick also appears in the film, fresh off her Oscar nomination for Up in the Air, which is complete awesomeness. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World opens everywhere August 13. Check out the teaser below.
