The screen size doesn't matter when the product is this good as you pointed out with the screen problems the theater you went to presented. Cameron really came up with a polished product that you notice even more with each viewing.

And I can agree with you on the real life cheesy, I guess I never thought about it like that before. Great point sir!

i agree, and after the initial shock of watching it for the first time in IMAX 3D, i got to focus for on the small things that make this movie amazing. I saw it at a small theater (still 3D) but the projector was malfunctioning so the screen was way smaller than the actual physical screen but it didn't bother me. i still felt like i was there and this time, i realized it was because the script brought me in and how great it really was. And yes, as we all agree, the cheesy lines don't go away but honestly, people say cheesy lines in real life and don't notice it very much.

Just saw Avatar for the second time and it was even better than the first. I actually rated it the same (A) as you Rabs but then the second time through I could not help but make it an A+. The second time around I noticed so many finer details from Cameron, wonderful parts from the actors, and the soundtrack really hit home. Despite the cheesy one liners at times I could not help but give Cameron the highest grade for his overall script. The character development is top notch not too mention the love story that rivals Titanic. Also I noticed the foreshadowing included...

Dr. Augustine: what are you going to do Ranger Rick, shoot me?

Then boom, he shoots her later in the movie... hats off to you Cameron.

Here is my review if anyone is interested: http://matthewdeery.blogspot.com/2009/12/upon-f...

Spot on review. But holy shit was this a great movie experience. I will use money that I get from the holidays to go see this movie over and over again in Imax 3D since it will only be around for so long. At some points I didn't even think of it as a movie, but something completely different.

My question now is how will this movie compare to other movies that will be made in the future with the same technology? Will the movie hold up as much once its not so unique? My opinion yes a definate yes, but will be something to think about in the future. Cameron has the Midas touch.

yea totally agree rabs, top three best reviews you have written up to this point. It was quite a visual experience, which for me hides the poor acting and dialogue, which as you point out are the films weakest points. This will for sure create tons of revenue, so the the sequal will probably get the green light.

What are your thoughts on that? which way do you think he'll take it? who do you think should be casted in the next one?

DEAD ON SPOT... I went into the IMAX theater today with much skepticism towards my friends RAVING RANTS about J.C's Avatar...but all possible expectations were simply blown out of the water.

As Zetus Demos already said Cameron has done it again!

I can only hope this ELIMINATES any studios idea of releasing another SHITTY CGI movie...cough, cough...WOLVERINE...

Yeah great review Rabs. Funny thing is I was thinking of you when I walked out of the midnight showing thinking, "I wonder what Barrett is going to rate this movie?" Our movie minds not being too far off I actually was thinking there was no way you could give it less than an A and low and behold we both settled on the same grade. The only real flaw I found too was Cameron's script which was good for the most part but a little slow sometimes and a little cheesy. But most of us know Cameron is a better filmmaker than writer, and this effort proves it. Simply stunning.

Was the IMAX packed?
