Some Quick Tidbits

● I keeeed, I keeeed. But Really? Not only is an Indiana Jones 5 in the works with Spielberg and Shia LaBeouf to return, but guess who else?….Carrot Top! No, I’m JK. But Harrison Ford IS set to come back to play Indy once more, as he turns 67 years-old next week. This information is via The Insider, not necessarily the New York Times in terms of credibility, but it should be somewhat legit, since we definitely know there’s going to be an Indy 5. As much as I love Indy and the combo of Spielberg, Lucas and Ford, but as Paul McCartney said, “Let it Be…”

I mean in KOTCS, Aliens? Really? And I know that the point of Indy flicks is good Ol-fashioned action-adventure, but Shia swinging on jungle vines with 500 other monkeys? Really? The last one just didn’t do it for me and I’m not sure I get the point of doing another. Maybe if the script makes actual sense this next time around, I’ll check it out, but we’ll see. In the mean time, “Let it Be…”

● Ryan Reynolds’ next movie will be just him, no other actors, and he’ll be in a coffin the entire time. Yes, Van Wilder and Deadpool himself will be performing literally a one-man show in his next film, Buried. According to The Playlist via FirstShowing buried is an indie-thriller about Paul, a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.

Reynolds says of doing the project:

“‘Buried’ is the story about a guy whose buried (laughs). It’s the only movie I’ve ever heard of with only one person in it. So it’s just me, I’m the only person in the whole movie so, I don’t know, we’ll see. It’s either going to be, you know, the greatest, most experimental cool movie ever made or god knows what.”

Such an unprecedented blend of simplistic complexity. It’s just Reynolds in a coffin for 90 minutes. No big location shoots, explosions or sex scenes, just him and a coffin. That’s the simple part. Trying to find a way to make that concept thrilling for 90 minutes, will be the complex part. Whatever the outcome, I applaud Reynolds, writer Chris Sparling and director Rodrigo Cortes for their unique vision and ambition. Here’s hoping they can deliver. Shooting for Buried begins this month in Barcelona.

● If you haven’t heard of The Hurt Locker yet, listen up. Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, an elite Army bomb squad unit must come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb. The Hurt Locker premiered at SXSW and at Sundance this past January and received PHENOMENAL reviews from critics and industry insiders. Movie Masher Travis Andries has seen the film and was too “blown away” by the intense, suspenseful and exciting freshness of the film. I have not seen it myself, but am waiting with eager anticipation for its eventual DVD release; it can currently be seen on the big screen in select cities.

If your curious on how good this film really is, the studio has posted the first eight minutes of the The Hurt Locker online. It’s pretty intense. Check it out.

I would put Kingdon of the crystal skull behind Raiders and the last crusade but in front of Temple of Doom. It was a pretty good flick and the more i watch it, the more i like it. it is just kind of hard to adjust. i was unsure about aliens too because Indiana Jones has always had a realistic aspect to it. BUT, then i watched a special on the History Channel about crystal skulls and there is logic behind the storyline that makes it more realistic.

I would love to see a fifth and see where they take it.
