Holy Shinto! Can a get some Armageddonish destruction with a side of worldwide chaos, mayhem, mass-panic and death? Oh I can? Oh okay. Just released today is the brand new trailer of 2012. Directed and written by Roland Emmerich, (Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow) the film is about an academic researcher leads a group of people in a fight to counteract the apocalyptic events that were predicted by the ancient Mayan calendar. Pretty sweet cast too. The awesome John Cusack leads the pack, followed by: Thandie Newton, Amanda Peet and Woody Harrelson. Emmerich has displayed an amazing ability to convey apocalyptic destruction in his previous films and this one looks even better because of the advancements in CGI technology.

2012, weirdly, opens this November in 2009 though. Do the studio suits know something we don’t and now they’re giving us time to prepare? IDK! It does look like an awesome epic to see in theaters. But in the mean time, check out the trailer below, courtesy of FirstShowing:

Up next we have a much lighter film, destruction-wise, but looks as though it will still evoke a lot of emotion. The film is calld Love Happens and it stars Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston. Playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face seems to have done some real good to Eckhart’s career as he is now a leading man to contend with. Eckhart plays a widower whose book about coping with loss turns him into a best-selling self-help guru. On a business trip to Seattle, he falls for a woman (Aniston) who attends one of his seminars, only to learn that he hasn’t yet truly confronted his wife’s passing. Before watching the trailer, I thought this would be a typical, jovial rom-com, but after watching the trailer, it seriously looks like a straight-up tear-jerker. It looks to be a classic role for Aniston, as she only seems to do either romantic comedies or romantic dramadies; this being the latter. Not that the film roles she chooses to do are bad or anything, but I’d really like to see her expand her portfolio and do a political thriller or something (cough, Derailed). And I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this, but the film also features Judy Greer, playing the “best friend” role, that she seems to play in EVERY movie she’s in. Again, not a bad thing, just an observation. Anyway, check out the trailer for Love Happens opening in theaters September 18th, courtesy of FirstShowing:

2012 looks epic. Love thought provoking, apocalyptic, destruction flicks! Plus Oliver Platt's in it too, cast as it seems in the role of the bureacratic asshole! Which is great… Yeah. Lol! No I love Platt!

Love Happens looks awesome too. Rom coms and rom drams are my mash! So this is a must see. As far as Judy Greer goes, she'll get her day. I can feel it. Judy Greer in a film titled, "The Best Friend" It could work.
