New Photos From “Inglorious Basterds”

By

Vanity Fair has some exclusive set photos of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming brutal World War II epic, Inglorious Basterds, starring: Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger (National Treasure), Mike Meyers (yes, Austin Powers) and narrated by Samuel L. Jackson.

(From left: Laurent, Christopher Waltz as Colonel Hans Landa, Omar Doom as P.F.C. Omar Ulmer, Daniel Brühl as Frederick Zoller, Quentin Tarantino, Eli Roth as Sergeant Donny Donowitz, Diane Kruger, and Brad Pitt.)

Although he’s written, produced and been a guest director on many films, this is only the 7th film (written & directed) by Quentin Tarantino. I love Brad Pitt and I’m glad that he’s getting bad-ass and brutal for this film. Inglorious Basterds takes place in Nazi-occupied France during World War II, where a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as “The Basterds” are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Basterds soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theater in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers.

Sounds pretty intense and I cannot wait! I love WWII movies. I know that they can be played-out sometimes, especially around Oscar season (cough: The Reader), but how awesome is it that this truly visionary director is going to put his twisted-genius into HIS STORY about World War II? The film opens everywhere August 21st.

Check out the bad-ass teaser trailer!

How could you not love The Reader? Oscar time or not that shit was powerful….”the war to end all wars” is World War I.

Thanks Deery. You’re right, my bad. I changed it. But as for The Reader…that is one of the most overrated, boring and played out Holocaust films ever. Winslet was 1,000 times better in Rev. Road. IMO.

Tarantino, even though he has made good films I believe that he needs to just a little time off. I believe that this film is going to be epic don’t get me wrong but the thing that is going to carry this movie is the cast.
Yes Tarantino is a very good director but it is getting to the point where I can pretty much call what his movies are going to be. Looking at all the films he has done (the ones i’ve seen…which i know is not all of them) all it is, is just blood and guts everywhere. Dude Quentin take some time off after this one build up some anticipation for your next film.

So to reiterate the fact of my post is I think it will be a good flick but more because of the acting that is going to happen not because Quentin is doing it.

    FOR TIME BEING TARANTINO=PLAYED

WAT!!!! FIRST: I think youre confusin Tarantino with the “rip-shit Riot”, blood and guts spewer, action-oriented Robert Rodriquez.
Second: Aside from the Kill Bill installments (seen as his worst work but watev) Tarantinos flicks revolve around tight and choreographed dialogue. The round table speeches between main characters is a staple of Tarantino’s work! Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Death Proof. His movies use dialogue to progress. This film seems like a “just for fun piece” granted choc full o’ action, blood and guts, and gun toting badasses but I won’t be surprised if there are classic Tarantino slow parts, filled with lengthy diatribes of complex and intelligent dialogue.

Third: Tarantino writes specific roles with key actors already in mind. Samuel L as Jules, Uma as The Bride, Grier as Jackie Brown. He wrote the character first with these people in mind.

Lastly:”I can pretty much call what his movies are going to be” I may be taking this outta context or maybe misconstrued the meaning of this line so if that’s the case, by all means correct me. A vicious gang of Jewish-american soldiers dropped into france behind Nazi lines to wreck terror and havoc upon the comfortably entrenched soldiers of the Third Reich… NOT even NOSTRADAMUS could have predicted the coming of this film.

    That’s all i got…. ZUNGS
